![]() EN2 National Road Best Trails ![]() 11 Days Program - October to May (*) Groups from 6 to 16 participants The EN2 National Road is one of the three transnational roads in the world, which crosses all of Portugal, from the northern border, with Spain, to the Atlantic, in the south. It covers ten municipalities in the territory of Alentejo, where we choose the best walking routes closer to the EN2. Walking all over the Alentejo seeing and feeling the different landscapes, taking the EN2 is a unique experience to live in the Alentejo. ![]()

It was here that various civilizations came up from the Mediterranean Sea over centuries and it was through this river that mining wealth was drained to various parts of the world. A river that today houses the Great Lake Alqueva, the largest artificial lake in Europe. It is now possible to climb the Guadiana River in its territory of the Alentejo and get to know the many landscapes that can be seen along its course. ![]()

![]() The Mountains of São Mamede ![]() 7 Days Program - October to May (*) Groups from 6 to 16 participants Serra de São Mamede is a mountainous set of quartzite ridges that erupt in an immense ancient granite punch. Its highest point at 1015 meters is the highest in the whole Alentejo region and on days of good visibility, landscapes can be seen hundreds of kilometers away. The most humanized Natural Park in the whole country is located throughout its area, where the vibrant natural wealth lives in harmony with agricultural, forestry and human traditions since the remote Paleolithic. It is in this privileged territory that walking has fantastic challenges of landscapes and historical heritage. ![]()

![]() Meghalitic Circuit of Alentejo ![]() 7 Days Program - October to May (*) Groups from 6 to 16 participants Megalithism is an impressive testimony of civilizations of several millennia, some 6000 years before Christ, in which people from immense territories produced and aligned buildings of large blocks of stone. Building dolmens, fabulous funerary monuments, or placing stones, more or less rolled in the middle of the fields, in isolated menhirs, or finally in fabulous aligned structures, the famous Cromlech. For the best testimonies of the Alentejo, the six best walking routes were studied in order to have a global view of more than 8000 years of Alentejo history. ![]()

![]() Magnificent Castles of Alentejo ![]() FIVE DIFFERENT ROUTES - NORTH, CENTRAL (2), SOUTH and COAST The castles of Alentejo are a fundamental part in the historical and tourist affirmation of the territory. Built over several centuries, they aimed to protect villages, cities and populations, always affirming the independence of Portugal and the defense of the nation. Today they mark the landscape of the Alentejo and are an important cultural heritage and a source of pride for those who live in its proximity and for those who visit and learn more from the history of these places. Visitors from all over the world have a special attraction for Castles and a region like the Alentejo is a privileged destination to get to know them through excellent walks. In all the walking routes of these programs it is possible to see, walk or visit the Castelo do Alentejo associated with it. ![]()

![]() Landscapes of Alqueva Big Lake ![]() 7 Days Program - October to May (*) Groups from 6 to 16 participants The reservoir formed by the Alqueva Dam forms the largest artificial lake in Europe with a total area of about 250Km2 and a total of margins that exceed 1100km. Undertaking with the main purpose of irrigating the whole of the lower Alentejo is today a reason for tourist attraction for several municipalities and localities bordering the lake and which are under the influence of their irrigation. In several places we can walk on several pedestrian routes and see the gradualness of a fantastic territory in which the warm colored fields contrast with the freshness of the crystalline waters of the great lake. ![]()

![]() Roman Heritage ![]() 7 Days Program - October to May (*) Groups from 6 to 16 participants We are in the middle of Roman Lusitania, where even before the Romans varied civilizations came in search of the riches of the subsoil, that is to say the rich ores of gold, silver, copper, lead and zinc. The Romans here settled down for several centuries leaving the remains of their cities, their temples, their roads and their culture well rooted in the Latin language and in fantastic traditions such as the production of wine in clay pots. These are some of the walking routes that make us know and visit much of this historical heritage. ![]()

![]() Misterious Inland of Southwest ![]() 7 Days Program - October to May (*) Groups from 6 to 16 participants There is immense territory, between the Atlantic Coast and the Guadiana River, which holds mysterious historical secrets. Several civilizations have passed through here and lived, from prehistoric times, through the Roman period and Arab civilizations and up to the present day with the great activities of mining and extensive agriculture. One of the most enigmatic inheritances is the Script of the Southwest, with several testimonies and never deciphered. The mythical National Road EN2 passes today in the middle of the territory, but in the past and even now this is a difficult-to-access territory, especially in its walking routes. ![]()
